Babysitting Ideas

February 12, 2010 by Sushant

Usually parents are heard telling teachers and daycare takers that they are amazed how a number of kids can be handled so patiently when they find it difficult to handle the one or two they have; but then who said that baby-sitting is not an art. One needs to be extremely creative when it comes to baby-sitting. After all a child’s attention cannot not be captured on a single task for too long. No wonder    nursery rhymes are no more than a couple of lines. And yet at the same time when a child likes something then he/ she indulges in the same activity like an unstoppable broken record.

Whether you are an expert at baby-sitting or not here are some tips for babysitting that would make it an even more pleasure task for you as well as make you popular amongst the children who are under your care…

- Break-up the baby-sitting period into segments wherein various   activities can be incorporated. For instance, keep a certain   amount of time for teaching concepts, nursery rhymes, watching   television, reading short stories, playing games, eating, etc.
- Instead of being a figure of authority, be a child with the child;   and still being an adult when you need to teach some important   lesson
- Keep a smile on your face, after all children despise grumpy old   aunts
- Narrate stories with the help of pictures or else et picture story   books
- Keep the child or children in your care busy
- When you need to teach something, do not instruct but be a   participant in your own instructions. For instance, suppose you   want the child or children to put away the toys, then instead off   ordering them to do so, pick the toys along with them
- One of the most difficult aspects of babysitting is the feeding   time.

To make the task easier a tried and tested method of successful feeding method is to keep the child’s mind diverted by talking to them or telling them a story. They are s busy listening to you that they do not even realize how much they have eaten
” Make outdoor activities a part of the baby sitting routine

Above all, all a child needs is an environment full of love and happiness, which will take you through an easy routine of baby sitting; whether it is a single child or a handful. Like the age old adage goes, ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do; in case of babysitting it is ‘When with children, bring the child out in you.

You maybe looking for daycare furniture to open a your own daycare center or then maybe to provide the best of daycare at home, and under such circumstances you probably are wondering what is required and what is not. First and foremost it must be kept in mind that the environment you create is not very different from the home environment one is used to.

Taking into account that you are setting up a child daycare center then there are certain factors to be kept in mind as listed below.

- You have to invest in cots that are comfortable and safe
- The center must represent a nursery with lots of color and toys    around
- The floors should be carpeted to ensure the child’s safety
- You need to invest in inflatable paddle pools
- It is preferable to have a garden in the compound of your daycare  center that should have musical nursery rhymes & outdoor play equipment
- You could put up cutouts of animals, birds, alphabets, numbers,    which adds life to dull surroundings
- All furniture such as sofas and chairs should be of a low level
- You need to purchase food table-and-chair that are especially    designed for toddlers
- As far as the space factor is concerned, something open ad less    cluttered is preferred

For an adult daycare center you should preferably keep the following in mind:

- The daycare center should not represent a hospital
- A backyard garden does wonders for those admitted to your   center
- Instead of creating a dormitory-type setting, it is preferable to   have rooms on twin sharing basis so that those in your care get   some rest when they need to and feel as if they at home
- You should incorporate a reading section with some baby pictures
- Adults enjoy playing cards and other indoor games for which a    separate room should be maintained
- The furniture should be like it is at home, because remember they    are visiting their second home during the day
- The walls should be of sober and light shades, especially the    pastels
